Functional Mathematical course

In 2006, the Functional Mathematical course in doctorial program was established to cultivate human resources who support applied mathematical researches required in the world. The course aims to develop researchers who cooperate with research areas different from mathematics, contribute to developing, modeling, and resolving mathematical problems in the real world, and moreover quest new mathematical themes. Course students will achieve broad mathematical knowledge beyond specialized field. They have experiences of using mathematics at R&D sites via the long-term internship (more than three months). It is possible and encouraged to receive a Ph.D. degree by a thesis made in the following steps; 1)join a collaborative research with a company under supervision by a professor, 2)revisit several known mathematical results and combines them to complete the collaborative research, and 3)makes clear the importance and the role of mathematics in the research. All teaching staffs in Graduate School of Mathematics take care of the course students.
